Protecta FR ASF

Protecta FR ASF is an acrylic intumescent sealant, which prevents the spread of fire, smoke and gases through linear joints and service penetration openings in fire rated walls and floors.

This product should be used in conjunction with appropriate backing materials, so that the correct width to depth ratio is maintained. Furthermore, this application method ensures that shrinkage is limited during hardening.

When Protecta FR ASF is fully cured it will still be slightly elastic for joint movement.

The benefit of this product is that it can achieve up to 4 hours fire resistance and it also creates a sound barrier to provide noise reduction. It intumesces upon extreme heat exposure to provide a fire barrier seal.

Product testing

It has been fire tested to BS EN 1366-3, with additional guidelines from BS EN 1366-4.

It has been acoustic tested in accordance with BS EN ISO 140-3:1995

A double sided seal of at least 12.5mm depth will achieve a sound reduction of 40dB.

This product has been CE Marked – Sealant for fire rated joints and penetrations class EI 120.

Storage and life span

Protecta FR ASF can be stored in a cool environment, between 10 and 30 degrees Celcius, for up to 24 months unopened.

Once installed, it has a working life of 25 years.

The product can be purchased in cartridge form, or in a tub.
