Product Information and installation guidance
These pipe collars are made from a continuous pressed stainless steel flexible shell that contains a high performance graphite-based intumescent. This material reacts to heat, expands and chars, to plug the pipes.
Its built-in fixing lugs make it suitable for installing onto the structure.
There are different installation instructions for different pipework orientations.
In vertical orientations, fit one fire collar to the underside of the floor.
In horizontal orientations, install two pipe collars: one to each side of the wall.
Ensure the wall is clean and free from particles such as loose debris and dust.
Any irregularities between the collar and the wall or the pipe and the wall need to be filled with Quelstop Intumescent Acrylic Sealant.
Drill holes for the pipes as near to the outside diameter of the plastic pipes. Refer to the “performance” table above for more guidance.
If the holes are too large, contact us for guidance.
Feed the pipe collar around the pipe and pass the tongues one one side through their corresponding slots to secure the ends. Then bend the tongues back and use the correct fixings through all of the lugs to secure the collar fully into place.
