Fire Wrap

Intumescent fire wrap is also known as intumescent pipe wrap.
It is designed to wrap around pipes which pass through most types of fire rated walls and some fire rated floors. It intumesces in the event of a fire, meaning it expands and chars to fill in the gap created by melting pipes. In the case of metal pipes, the expansion insulates the pipes, keeping them as cool as possible in the event of a fire. This is important to keep their shape.

These pipe wraps can either come as individual units, large enough for the pipes they are fitting around, or as a long (usually 25 metre) roll, which allows the installer to cut the wrap to size on whichever pipes they are working on.

When using fire wraps as part of a system, it is important to make sure that the other components are from the same manufacturer.

Installers should always follow the installation instructions, to make sure they are installing a fire tested system in a compliant way.
