Non-Ventilated Cavity Barriers

Non-ventilated cavity fire and smoke barriers are also called “full-fit” cavity barriers. They are designed to be installed under compression to fully seal off a cavity for the lifetime of the barrier.

They can be installed both horizontally and vertically and block the passage of fire and smoke.

They are often made from stone wool, such as Rockwool. There are full-fit barriers for walls, floors and roof spaces. Always follow the manufacturer’s installation instructions.

Full-fit barriers are usually cheaper than open state cavity barriers, so are preferable where ventilation isn’t needed.

They also generally provide better acoustic performance, reducing the speed at which noise travels throughout the building.

A lot of the time they require fixing brackets and intumescent mastic for installation.
